Arifureta season 1 had a very difficult release. The anime was first announced in December of 2017. It was due to be released in the summer of 2018. But the initial character designs were not good and that brought on an outrage. It was shared by the Author of Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou.
Now, this led to a change in the staff. The animation director, the scriptwriter and the character designer were all changed. Studio Asread (Known for horror anime like Mirai Nikki, Corpse Party) was brought in to replace them. After this abnormality, the anime was rescheduled for the summer of 2019.
Changing the staff mere months before release sure took its toll. Now after all this, the budget for this anime was suffering and it seems like Studio Asread made some cuts which led to the inconsistencies. Now, this whole situation resulted in a very bad show.
Arifureta’s manga is more loved as compared to its anime. Although it had some complaints about skipping over the character development, it doesn’t affect the experience that much. Like, if you have read the light novels then you feel like certain parts if adapted correctly rather than hinted, would answer a lot of the stuff that leaves the reader a bit confused.
Other than this, there’s really nothing wrong with this manga. The pacing, though a bit fast, is very well carried out. You share some of the emotions portrayed in the manga and in general, it’s a good read.
