The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland) is now one of Shonen Jump’s most popular series and its anime debut made it even more popular. If you are here then you are probably waiting for the next season just like all of us before we get into the details of The Promised Neverland season 2, let’s recall how the first season started and what made us got into this incredible anime.
The Promised Neverland Plot:
The anime starts with cute little children playing around in an orphanage, leading happy lives together with Isabella whom they call ‘Mama’. They are required to takes tests daily but other than that they are free to do whatever they want as long as they follow one rule and that is to not venture too far into the forest (there was a limit to how far they can go).
All of the children live together as a big happy family. Every few months one of them is adopted by a foster family and nobody ever hears from them again, the children presume that it may be because they are just having so much fun that they forgot all about them…
In the first episode, one of the children named Conny is about to leave to live with a foster family. After the farewell, when she leaves. The main character Emma who is one of the three eldest siblings realizes that Conny forgot her stuffed bunny which she always used to keep by her side.
She and Norman (Also one of the three eldest siblings) make a dash toward the gates they figured she wouldn’t have left yet.
To get to her they have to go through a gate which they aren’t supposed to enter no matter what. They do it thinking they would both apologize later, and what they saw next was nothing short of a nightmare, they found out that everything they thought they knew was a big lie!
What happened next got us hooked on the anime.
Season 1 was perfect but it ended and it ended at a cliffhanger, leaving all of our fans hungry for more.
Yakusoku no Neverland Season 2 Release Date:
The good news is that The Promised Neverland Season 2 release date will be in 2020 (It was confirmed on March 28, 2019). We don’t know about the exact date or when will it air but during the anime expo 2019, The Promised Neverland’s director Mamoru Kanbe said that adapting the story of the Manga will be a challenge. He also declared that the anime staff has already started working on the anime’s script.
Since the anime staff is already working on The Promised Neverland Season 2, it’s highly likely that it will air in the fall or summer of 2020.
Judging from the Manga, it seems that it will be difficult to put in the next two arcs in a twelve-episode season. So, there is a chance that the next season can be of 24 episodes.
The Promised Neverland season 1 ended with Emma, Ray and the other kids except for the ones that are younger than six making a grand escape from the Grace field house. Now that they were in the outside world things were just about to get more interesting but the anime ended.
The first season focused on the escape, the second season will focus on whether or not can Emma keeps her promise which is to save everyone, even the ones that they left behind. We’ll have to wait for the anime to find that out OR we can just start the manga.
The Promised Neverland manga ending by 2020?
The Promised Neverland Manga started back in the year 2016 and it is currently in the final arc which means that the Manga will probably end by the time the season 2 releases.
If you haven’t yet started the Manga of the promised Neverland I encourage you to start it right now. The 1st season covered the first 37 chapters from the Manga and there’s no telling how they are going to manage the second. They will eventually leave us on another cliffhanger anyway.
The Manga has a lot more than what they showed in anime, so I’d recommend that you start the Manga from chapter 1 to get the true sense of the story. There are as many plot twists as you can imagine. Just when we think that we know what is about to happen, we will realize that everything we thought we knew was just an illusion.
